Brian Eno Encourages Support to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the initiative have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
