Individual Formally Accused with Trying to Kill in Gunfire Attack of NFL Athlete Kris Boyd
An individual has been indicted with trying to kill someone in connection with the shooting that wounded New York Jets professional athlete Kris Boyd.
Accused Individual Named and Taken Into Custody
The accused is a 20-year-old Bronx resident, twenty years old. He was on Monday, charged with attempted murder.
Circumstances of the Mid-November Shooting
The serious incident took place in the middle of the night of 16 November, outside a popular New York City restaurant. Police described the event as a dispute with a unknown individuals.
Boyd, 29 years old, was with two other Jets players and a friend in a central part of New York City when the taunting started.
It resulted in a fight, during which police allege Green shot Boyd two times in the abdomen.
Critical Wounds and Recovery
The bullet pierced Boyd's lung and became embedded in his major blood vessel near the heart. He was transported to hospital in critical condition but was later discharged.
It has been reported he has recently seen his fellow players at a team training location.
Investigation and Apprehension in Buffalo
Camera recordings from the area reportedly showed Green fleeing and getting into a car driven by someone else.
Law enforcement apprehended Green on 8 December in Buffalo, where he was allegedly staying at his partner's residence.
A official announcement confirmed that "an individual" had been arrested.
When officers converged on the building, the individual was seen "looking out the window searching for an escape avenue but retreated inside after seeing the authorities," the statement said.
The confrontation ended soon after, when the suspect exited the apartment with his hands up.
The accused had "significantly changed his physical appearance likely to evade capture," law enforcement stated further.
The Player's Career Background
Prior to signing with the Jets this season, Boyd was a member of the Arizona Cardinals over multiple years in the league.
The cornerback had been on the team's injury list for the Jets after sustaining a shoulder injury during practice in August.
