Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
