Based on figures provided by Israel, at least 98 detainees from Palestine have perished while detained since October 2023. A rights monitoring body located in Israel has stated that the real figure is probably considerably larger, due to hundreds of missing individuals in Gaza.

A prisoner incarcerated with the deceased testified that he was led to the yard by correctional officers shortly before his demise, obviously hurt and exposed from the waist down. His corpse has not been repatriated to Gaza.

Other prisoners who perished in detention in Israel remain anonymous. The prison service and military provided investigators with the total of deaths in confinement, and limited additional information for example the site where they perished, but without the inmates’ personal details.
