Salah Issues Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players following the uproar from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also noted that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and on a positive run.”
