Star Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Stance Following Voicing Controversial Covid Documentary
The "Taken" star has given his voice to a recent film that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccines and praises one-time government figure RFK Jr.
The Film's Contentious Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for assertions that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the influenza shot.
The book's collaborator, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone radio host the Infowars host. The producer wrote online hailing Neeson's participation in the project.
A Strong Denial
A spokesperson for Neeson have provided a response firmly refuting implications that he subscribes to anti-immunization sentiments.
"Everyone can acknowledge that misconduct can exist within the medical sector, but that should never be confused with being against vaccines," the statement explains. "Liam never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His long work with the global charity underscores his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It continued that the actor was not involved in crafting the project's editorial content and that inquiries about its content are best addressed to the producers.
Central Claims In the Feature
In the film, the script provided by Neeson includes several controversial claims:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It declares that "research has become dangerously politicized."
- Kennedy is shown claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- The narration further attacks stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused severe distress that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding pandemic shots, it cites a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Context and Current Debates
The film includes a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a BBC apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its official position that there is no link between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is repeated in the film, even with a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no such link has been found.
A Previous Record of Support
Differing from the film's tone, Neeson has formerly voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
The film concludes with Neeson's voice stating, "This isn't the end of our journey. It is the beginning of a different phase."
