The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
